BOSTON YOU’RE MY HOME

CITY SPOTLIGHT

Ok, I don’t live there right now but it will always be my home……

My favorite city, I was born there and although I grew up forty miles south of there it’s where I always belonged.

It’s a city rich in history, and a wonderful city to walk. There are many hidden treasures to be found. On a recent trip there I rediscovered a consignment shop on Newbury St, THE CLOSET. Not your typical consignment shop a little pricier, but you’ll find high quality designer clothing at a great price I found a designer pair of shoes…..never worn for $30.

if you’re in the mood for Italian head over to the nearby neighborhood of beacon hill, there is a little hole in the wall called ARTU. the food is excellent, very authentic and delicious. Their daily specials are the best and their wine selection is really great, but the ambiance (there are only ten tables and a large fireplace) and the low prices are the best deal of all.

There is so much history to explore but my favorite piece is The Old North Church, you know the one….
Immortalized in Longfellow’s poem Paul Revere’s Ride, the Old North is the oldest church building in Boston and the city’s most visited historic site. On the evening of April 18, 1775, the Old North sexton, Robert Newman, climbed the steeple and held high two lanterns as a signal from Paul Revere that the British were marching to Lexington and Concord to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock and to seize the Colonial store of ammunition. This fateful event ignited the American Revolution. It is located in Boston’s little Italy, a neighborhood rich with history, restaurants, and pastry shops.

The picture was taken last spring at the Boston Public Garden.
