A REQUEST

By The Flying Pinto

This letter is real! I just received this letter from someone who found me on Face Book. I will answer his question in a post tonight but first I would love your thoughts on this:

“We don’t know each other yet but I noticed that you are a flight attendant.I have a quick question for ya,

My buddy, Mark, who used to work for Frontier Airlines, just died. Each year I would give him $500 and he would put me on his companion pass flight deal so I could fly for super cheap and only pay the taxes. Well, now that he is dead…I’m looking for a flight attendant or pilot that can put me on their passes. I’m willing to “gift” them $1000 if they fly for American, United, or Delta. (one world alliance, or Star Alliance)

In fact, if you have pilot buddies who don’t have/want their families on the pass or would be interested in getting an extra $1000 cash, I’d like to put my girlfriend on it as well.

I’ll give you $100 for every pilot you pass me that will do this. (I have 2 business partners who travel a lot and it costs our company an arm and a leg so I’d put them on too.) Thoughts?

I’ve been doing this for years now and know exactly how to list myself, dress code, standby stuff but it saves me a ton of $$ since I travel every week.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no : )
Thanks for the consideration.
mums the word. Everything is negotiable.”

Holy Cow! What on earth? Now sure how his willingness to fork out so much cash is saving him any moolah. Sounds sketchy.

  3. That's absolutely a scam…REPORT HIS EMAIL ADDRESS to facebook and block him from your profile

  4. I say you should take the money and fly somewhere far, far away and enjoy yourself. 😛

    (Note Sarcasm)

  5. I won't touch it with a 10 ft pole, sounds dodgy. Steer away from it.

i'm not sure exactly how this scam works, but i'm sure it is a scam!
how many years have you been in this business? and how many times have you heard of this kind of thing? i'm guessing NEVER!
    wow! wow! wow!

Stay away from this guy! Passes are for "your" family and friends. Report and block.

Definitely steer clear. As much of a good idea this is (or isn't), airlines sell tickets for a reason, and that's so the public can buy them. An airline I know of north of the border scrapped their buddy pass system for that very reason, people were selling them out, and now they get weighted with heavy pass restrictions. What would happen if something gets lost in translation or something, can he turn around and sue you? Best not get involved in this business!

This is pretty crazy. It could be true I guess. There are enough people out there trying to screw with the system.

Maybe it is someone undercover with the airlines?! Nah, probably just some cheap guy who has no class 🙂

Oh no no no! that is bad, very bad! We aren't allowed to "sell" our tickets at all. Very bad!!!

If this guy has been doing this for years he should know that even if he had that arrangement before, it's not something that people are allowed to do.

Can't wait to hear what you write about this!

He is an audacious person to make such a bold offer to someone he knows not well.

The money offered is very small considering both the risk to you and the reward for him.

I don't know the ramifications if you were to do it and be found out. Even if the payment were double or triple it would not replace the income of a lost job.

I presume that you have made you decision on this offer in advance of publishing this morsel.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Sorry.
