WEDNESDAY’S Q&A

By The Flying Pinto

This weeks question comes from our friend, Mark Lawrence:
(check out Marks blog, he is a fantastic photographer and has some pretty amazing aircraft shots)

Mark: Is there any particular type of aircraft you prefer working on? The 777 or the 767? And – why do you like to work on that particular type of aircraft?

FP: I will say that I am lucky enough to fly for an airline that has pretty nice aircraft…no Md-80s, 727s, or Dc-9s! That being said, I do have a fave…the 777! Unfortunately, our 777s don’t do much domestic flying so it’s been a while since I’ve been on one.

Why do I love the 777? Here is my top ten list of why I love it:

  1. Wide body
  2. minimum crew of nine FAs
  3. Fabulous destinations
  4. First class crew meals..due to length of flights
  5. Two aisles
  6. Room in the aisle to have a cart and a person squeeze by it
  7. Room for a yoga class in the back galley
  8. Coach lav that can accommodate a wheel chair and has a full length mirror
  9. The engines are the circumference of a 737 fuselage
  10. Crew rest bunks;-)…see post photo

Thanks Mark for the great question, if anyone has any Flight Attendant, airline, or travel related questions please e-mail, twitter or comment…I answer questions on my Wednesday post.

flying pinto – I was lucky enough to be involved with the United launch of the 777. I should post some stories. Nothing that special but I had some fun and saw some amazing things at the Boeing plant.

You probably know this – the toilet seats were a special feature of the 777. When you let go of them they don't bang down. United had complaints about that noise so the seats go down softly.

  4. I have traveled a lot in my time on board almost every western commercial aircraft wide or narrow body, but nothing compares to B777 in terms of space and smoothness of the ride.
The overhead space alone is a joy, there is always a place for my hand luggage.
