I had a request for a q&a segment which is a great idea! I have received a lot of questions via e-mail lately, and this is a great way to answer, so keep the questions coming and I will answer your questions every Wednesday!

Here is what QzakGirl had to say:

you should start a q&a segment. like “Ask a FA Friday” or something.
I’ve got one….have you ever had someone famous on one of your flights (i mean REALLY famous)?

Yes! I have had several famous people on my flights. I think some “really famous” people…you be the judge:

  • Peter Jennings (loved him!)
  • Richard Simmons(Ok, I know…but you know him…he’s famous: )
  • Bill Murray
  • Beyonce Knowles
  • Dennis Miller
  • Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel
  • B.B. King
  • Jaclyn Smith
  • Paul Anka
  • Dan Rather

I’ve probably had a few more but they must not be that famous because I can’t think of them right now…except for Chris Gardner who is kind of famous. He is the real life guy they based the movie The Pursuit of Happyness after. (Aviatrix, that’s how they spell happiness in the movie so don’t give me a hard time about my spelling;-)

Anyway, you can read about my experience with Chris in my very first post from last April 1st…http://www.theflyingpinto.com/2008/04/flight-to-happyness.html

I also have a couple of “funny” famous people stories:

When I first started flying, I think it was my first or second trip, I flew with a very attractive FA who told me she was dating Robert De niro…I thought, “yeah right….whatever!” Well, a few years later I was reading People Magazine and there she was in an article about her divorce from Robert De niro! Grace Hightower was the FA I worked with and was indeed dating Robert De Niro. They got married, had a child and sadly divorced.

My other story is about Billy Bob Thornton, I flew a turn out to L.A. a couple years ago. It was actually a red-eye turn, which meant we flew out early evening and came back late into the next morning. We had sit time on this particular trip, I think about 3 hours that we were on the ground in L.A. Well. one of the FA’s I was flying with told us she had a date during our sit time. Hmmm, we didn’t have that much time. Well, her date was with Billy Bob. She had met him while working a flight the previous month and he took her number. When we landed in L.A. Billy Bob sent a driver to pick her up and she went to his house and hung out with him and some of his friend’s and had a great time…she even set up a date with him for the following week but I didn’t keep in touch with her so I’m not sure what happened, but I haven’t seen her in People Magazine yet….did I mention she looked like a young Angelina Jolie: 0

Thanks for the question! If I think of any other famous people I have had on board I will let you know.

This is a fun post! I haven’t had anyone too exciting on my little planes. Except Jim Rice a Red Sox player from some years ago (leaving Boston). I found out because he left his wallet at check in and they brought it on my flight and the agent was gushing about him. hehe.

    QzakGirl…you’re special: )

Megan, That’s funny because I actually have a story about Jim Rice too…but it was when I was about 12. My dad got a new job and was flying out of Logan (I’m from the Boston area) and we brought him to the airport. While we were waiting for my dad to board the flight he pointed to two guys and told me to ask them for their autograph. I did, without any idea who they were. (my dad always had me do his dirty work, I was also “the remote control” back in the day;-) Anyway, it turned out to be Jim Rice and Carl Yastrzemski! The whole Red Sox team was there!

  4. Question for you…. What has been the scariest situation as a FA having to use your emergency procedures?

I haven’t worked Corporate flights with anyone that I knew of before that flight, but when I worked for American Airlines, I saw several famous people, but the one that always stands out in MY mind was Troy Aikman*! WOO HOO*! He was SO cute, and single at the time. (SMILE) LOL* _Ashley*
