HAPPY HOLIDAYS

By The Flying Pinto

Merry Christmas to those of you celebrating! I hope Santa brings you everything you hoped for;-) We will be celebrating but not until the day after. I will be flying tomorrow. Why you ask would a FA in her 17th year of flying have to work Christmas? Well, I mis-bid for the month of December…or more accurately I forgot to bid! So, what happens when you forget to bid? The computer assigns you the next available line in seniority order and usually that works out pretty good….but not this time! I ended up with all four day trips, working Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years! Luckily, we can trip trade freely at my airline and I managed to change all but the first four day I worked at the beginning of the month into one and two days. I even managed to get Christmas day off….by offering 100 thank yous…you’ll have to figure that one out. So, why do I have a turn tomorrow? We also, have a thing called bad day worse day, which means I was able to get out of a four day trip later in the month by working one day on Christmas. Confusing? Mr. FP still hasn’t figured it all out! He just accepts that my schedule can change at a moments notice.

Although this month has been challenging it can be fun too. On our flight back from San Diego tonight the Captain came over the P.A. and announced, “Ladies and gentleman if you look out the right side of the aircraft you’ll see red flashing lights, (another airplane passing by) we just got word from ATC that it’s Santa and his reindeer getting started!” At that moment I heard kids yelling out, “I see him! I see him!!”

    Working Holidays…………
It's nice to be wanted even if it's by a computer and well, "You gotta be somewhere!"
Doing a picture "Burlesque"(a musical with Cher) and had a 2 week Christmas hiatus until I got a call to work on "THOR"(yeah, the Norse God dude with the hammer and attitude) for a few days. Funny, after all the concentrated time I have spent on "Burlesque" I started getting antsy sitting at home! So……. I jumped at it and spent the time working with great people and seeing a great set being built before my eyes.
If you keep working like that FP you'll only have more stories to tell.
    Quick story-
Spent many years away from home filming. Missed most of my daughters formative years but we have rediscovered each other and cherish each other immensely. I think because of her growing up in an unconventional household it somehow directed her to become an Adventuress. She spends her time traveling the world, seeing the most amazing things. She is a regular Osa Johnson.
